I am directed by the Governor to transmit a copy ofOrdin
ance 1 of 1893, to provide for the recognition in the Colony of
"Protates and Letters of Administration granted in the United Kingdor
"and in British Possessions", and to enquire whether His Excellency the Governor of Hong-Kong would be willing to extend the Hong-Kong
Ordinance No. XIV of 1892 to make it apply to British Possessions as
well as to the United Kingdom.

Section 3 of the Ordinance of this Colony provides that
"The Governor in Council may on being satisfied that the legislature "of any British possession has made adequate provision for the recog "nition in that possession of protates and letters of administration "granted by the Supreme Court direct ty Order that this Ordinance
"shal subject to any exceptions and modifications specified in the "Order apply to that possession and thereupon while the Order is in "force this Ordinance shall apply accordingly", and if the Hong-Kong Ordinance could be amended to provide for the recognition of Probates and Letters of Administration granted in British Possessions, the
Governor in Council would be ready to make an Order under that sectic
